Gramps Filter rules
Custom filter rules that extend the filters available in Gramps.
About these tools
These custom filter rules extend Gramps with more precise handling of biological relationships, non-birth child relationships, places and events.
They can be installed and used independently. They are also used by several guides on this website, including ProfileTag and the GEDCOM filter.
Common Biological Ancestor
Find people who share a biological ancestor with a selected person while following only parent relationships recorded as Birth.
Non-Birth Child Relation
Find people recorded as adopted, foster, step, sponsored or another non-birth child relationship.
A named place and its sub-places
Find a named place and every place enclosed by it using the place name instead of a Gramps ID.
Event in Place (or sub-place)
Find people with an event in a named place or anywhere within its place hierarchy, optionally limited to an event type.
